Official Rules
These rules have been established to ensure fair and enjoyable gameplay for all participants in the basketball tournament.
Referees:
There will be three referees assigned to each game, with two referees on the floor and one stationed at the score table.
The referees will rotate their positions throughout the game.
Referees will determine technical rules such as double dribble, traveling, etc. (Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship and minimizing technical fouls.)
Scorekeeping:
Two individuals will be responsible for maintaining the score books during the games.
Team Size:
Each team can have a maximum of 10 players.
No additional players beyond this limit will be allowed to participate.
Substitutions:
Substitutions are permitted on every dead ball situation.
During these situations, Referees will allow Players to enter or exit the game freely.
Game Clock:
There will be a jump ball at the beginning of each game.
The games will run on a continuous 7-minute clock on 10-foot goals.
The clock will only stop for timeouts, injuries, or other exceptional circumstances as determined by the referees. Under the 1-minute mark the game clock will stop on all dead balls.
In case of overtime, athletes will shoot as many free throws as possible within a 1-minute running clock timeframe.
Age Limit:
This tournament is exclusively for children in 2nd grade and under.
The oldest eligible player must be 8 years old.
Age will be determined based on the cutoff date of August 11th.
Timeouts:
Each team has 4 timeouts per half (timeouts do not carry over to the next half).
Timeouts last for 1 minute each
Halftime
Duration is 10 minutes
